Liability insurance coverage is required on all foreign vehicles driving in Mexico. It pays for damages to person(s) and vehicle(s) injured/damaged in accidents caused by the insured. The Combined Single Limit (CSL) for Property Damage and Bodily Injury Liability is $500,000 USD.

This policy covers medical expenses for the driver & occupants of the insured vehicle up to $30,000. Motorcycles, ATVs, and UTVs are excluded.

The company's legal representative will post bond or deposit a guarantee before the Agent of the Public Ministry Office and/or Penal Judge up to $50,000 USD to obtain the provisional release of the driver, and/or the release of the covered vehicle, and to guarantee the repair of the damaged third party property.

On a covered total loss or total theft of an insured vehicle, the Company will pay the unpaid net balance of the loan or lease. If the actual cash value (ACV) of the vehicle is less than the loan or lease amount, the Company will pay up to 15% above the vehicle's actual cash value. The physical damage and theft deductible of $500 still applies. This coverage only applies when the insured amount of the vehicle, as listed on the declarations page, is equal to or greater than the Actual Cash Value of the vehicle.

If the insured is involved in an accident in which an uninsured third party is at fault, as determined by the corresponding Mexican legal authorities, and damage is sustained to the insured vehicle, the Company will pay for damages to the insured vehicle and waive the corresponding deductible. The Insured must fully cooperate with the Company in order to retain the corresponding right of recovery against the third party responsible for the accident.

After obtaining the Company's approval, the Insured may proceed to repair the vehicle outside of Mexico. Instead of Mexican labor rates, the Company will require at least two estimates and will pay the actual labor costs incurred in the U.S. or Canada, not to exceed $50 per hour for car/van/motorcycle, $55/hour for SUV/pickup truck, $70/hour for RV, and $50/hour for all others. Vehicles will be considered a total loss at the option of the Company.
